Democrats will blame the FBI when its report fails to impugn Kavanaugh

Last year, the Democratic Party tried to use James Comey as a weapon to
undermine President Trump. Today, the FBI once again finds itself being
dragged into a situation where it would rather not be.

Specifically, the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are once
again attempting to weaponize the FBI to try to derail President Trump’s
Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh. This puts the FBI in a no-
win situation.

In my 38 years as a law enforcement officer who once commanded a criminal
investigation division, I have never seen such a miscarriage of justice
and misuse of the FBI as I am witnessing at this hour.

I believe President Trump made the right decision to order a supplemental
FBI investigation, because he believes the FBI will find nothing
extraordinary to report. In fact, the president’s directive to have the
FBI work within specific parameters is a very good decision because it
will prevent a “fishing expedition,” as White House Adviser Kellyanne
Conway said on CNN this week.

In my professional opinion, there is no reason for an extended FBI
background investigation of Judge Kavanaugh because the Bureau has already
exhausted hundreds of man-hours and thousands of dollars on a very
thorough and concise background check on him not once, but six times.

Democrats are complaining about this because they want to use the FBI to
“go fishing” in hopes that they will catch something. Their goal is not to
find facts, but to delay this nominee’s confirmation past the midterms,
hoping they take control of the Senate and therefore deny this man his
appointment to the Court.

Those of us who lived through the 1950s remember the television series
"Dragnet," staring Jack Webb as Sgt. Joe Friday. Sgt. Friday’s famous
phase during his background investigations was “Just the facts ma’am, just
the facts.” And "just the facts" are what the FBI’s extended investigation
will gather. The FBI will not make recommendations regarding any part of
their investigation. Frankly, they will review what they already have.

To satisfy political operatives, they will interview the accuser again,
all of the people we already know about, and others whose names they are
given. Once this is complete, the FBI will submit a fact-based final
report to the White House and Senate Judiciary Committee.

This investigation is not a criminal investigation — it is a fact-finding
background check. Hence, contrary to what many believe, no one the FBI
contacts for an interview is obligated to cooperate.

Here are the facts the FBI already has in its possession: Judge Kavanaugh
has cleared six FBI background investigations; his 17,000 pages of
judicial opinions, speeches, and writings have been reviewed; his quarter-
million pages of documents spanning his lifetime have been reviewed; over
34 hours of sworn testimony have been reviewed; and the 1,500 questions he
answered to the Committee and three oral interviews with the Senate
Judiciary Committee have been reviewed.

All this fact-based information is already in the hands of the FBI and the
Senate Judiciary Committee. What is not fact-based are the allegations
made against the judge from individuals who have been unable to offer
anything substantial to support their claims.

By the end of the week — perhaps as soon as today — we will be back to
where we started: accusers who have no witnesses, no evidence, and nothing
to prove the accuracy of their allegations against Judge Kavanaugh.

Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed, the Democrats will cry foul, and the
big loser once again will be the FBI, thanks to the Democratic Party.
