Is the Beer Machine worth buying? It seems to easy to just add water
and the mix and you have great tasting beer in 7 to 10 days.

Not in MY opinion. I'd get a Mr. Beer barrel for $25 somewhere if you wanted a
minimum investment option to start brewing. Just visit the local homebrew store
and see if they have a beginners kit first! Some of those are less than 50 for
everything you really need to brew a fine ale.

I just started with my first brew in the beer machine (still fermenting). My
wife found it on sale for a really good price, but even before that, I did
some research on "starter packages" and decided that it was the best choice
for me because of effort and time. I have no time right no to create the
beer mix from scratch, and didn't even have the time to bottle it. This
seems perfect (if it works) becasue it only took about an hour to sterilize
and start it, then all I do is throw the machine the fridge, wait a few
days, and pour it in a glass for a drink.

As for the rest (quality, etc) don't know yet, but it is certainly
convenient!

If it sounds too good to be true....well you know the rest. "Good beer is

I think "great tasting" is stretching it quite a bit. Mr. Beer is to
brewing what the Easybake Oven was to baking. But I guess you gotta start
somewhere.

With the quality that I've witnessed coming from the Mr. Brew machines,
I'd figure more people would become discouraged from continuing on with
the hobby rather than becoming inspired to learn more.

The quality that comes out of Mr Beer, and the BEER MACHINE, are soley dependent
upon the quality of the wort that goes into them. If you follow Mr. Beer's
instructions and use 1/3 of your fermentables as TABLE SUGAR, then you get
pretty funny tasting beer. It mellows out after a couple months, but still...

WIth that said, I have made GREAT beer in my Mr Beer.

Yes the beer machine is great and its easy for people who have very little
space like if you live in an apartment and such...I bought one here in
canada at one of our zellers stores and picked it up for $99.99 CDN and some
of the mixies for $12.99 but they reduced the prices to last week
to...$90.00 CDN and $ 10.00 for the mixies..Yes I find the beer to be good
but the only problem is that when you put the co2 cartrages in they tend to
strip the screws..as I did and now have to replace them...Other wise its
easy and makes good beer..Yes I made my first batch and its good..I've made
beer the other way at my brothers home and the quality is about the same...I
still have to get some beer machine bottles and the filler as an extra...

Its just my comment...and I like the system..its fast and there is less mess
and less work to be done...

If you have the luxury of a garage or even some room in your closet save
your $100. Don't buy the "just add water method". Best case scenario you
find out you love homebrew. You'll just have to spend another $100 on the
real supplies. You should be able to get a large (20 qt.) stock pot, a
thermometer, a fermenting bucket, an airlock and supplies for your first
batch for less than $100. I did. I loved the first batch and continued to
invest in the hobby. The more I brew the more I want to brew. I may be a
snob but I think if you really want to experience home brew no ready-mix
contraption will do. Step-up, you'll be glad you did.
