I woulda bought the Bostich, but my brother was buying, so.....did two
roofs with it and it lived. A bit fussy on nail coil quality to begin
with, jammed frequently , but once it was figured out that it wanted
nicely coiled nails it went away. PErhaps it was happenstance.

Didn't like the variance in depth, but I think that is operator related.

Length of nail adjustment is hokey

likes to be well oiled

Perhaps the joke is on you, my friend: I've gotten many good tools there
which were well worth what I paid for them, sometimes a couple of times

Good for what? Filling unused space in your garbage can......

Tools from that place and places like it are made for people that
rarely use them, like job blow average homeowner who wants to build a
dog house or change the sparkplug and oil on his lawn mower.

So have I, but I've also gotten some duds. It does seem that some
like to look down their noses at HF though.

Those are the looser-contractors who are loosing business to DIY
homeowners that buy a cheap tool from HF, do a job, toss the HF tool,
and still come out saving $$$ over the price of some knuckle
dragging, unreliable, alcoholic, overpriced contractor that may or may
not show up for the job.

(BTW, there are many, many, many competent, reliable and reasonability
priced contractors out there. But it only take one of the losers to
drive a DIYer to the HF tools and a bunch of $$$ saved.)

Sure, a lot of the HF tools only last a job or two, but a one time HF
tool is better than a one-time looser-contractor.

That's true; however, depending on how loose they are, a "looser"
contracter may well also be a loser.

Same can be said of a firearm for self-defense. It only has to work once.

NO parts can be had for ANY HF guns period. Use it and throw it away.

That alone tells me to avoid buying HF power tools. Or for that matter,
avoid buying ANYTHING from HF. It's become apparent that there is at
least one person on this newsgroup who works for HF, and likes to
promote their junk. Just look for a recent thread about HF coupons.

I bought some of their crap, and was never satisfied with any of it.
That was years ago. I dont go to HF at all now. Most of the crap is now
buried in some landfill.

When I have a project that is a once-only deal, I look at Harbor Freight, then Menards, then Ace. For something that I expect to use over and over, I usually bypass Harbor Freight unless it is a small $$ amount where I wouldn't be too unhappy if the tool didn't hold out.

I have a regular HF nailer. I have a few HF powered tools, Ac and air. The
only thing that broke, was a cheap jigsaw, only to loose Screw that held
the table on. I have problems with tire inflators, hose goes bad fast,
chinese rubber I guess. I bough a cheap handsaws and stuck a diamond saw,
also HF, and cut cement with loads of dust. Thing is rusting sitting
outside. I think It still works good. Darn multipurpose tool, been using it
replacing flooring. Dirt cheap. Need to stick a new blade on I after
cutting through some nails. Best thing I ever bought.

So, what is your job position and title at HF?

I actually have been staying away to avoid spending. Last time I needed
something was to buy an inspection camera. That did the job. I quit buying
batteries, often leaked. I have been using dollar general batteries.
