The stove, a 25-year-old Nashua, has a pin hole in the frame. For the
past five years, the chimney sweep has sealed it with cement, but says
it should be spot-welded.

Does the pin-hole risk the integrity of the stove, or can I continue
to ignore it? Thanks, Jack

If it's just a pinhole, I wouldn't worry about it. But is the pinhole the
result of rust? These stoves usually are made of quarter inch iron or steel
and I find a pinhole hard to imagine unless it is part of a greater
corrosion problem.

Sounds like a job for a good sized drill bit to the site, then
J.B. Weld.

Here's a home remedy. Drill it out to, say, 1/4 inch. Then put a bolt
through it and tighten a nut and lock washer on the other side.
