Twice in it's history I have had to clean out the water drainage
"thing" that sits between the pump and the drainhose - it got blocked
up with scale. When it does this the machine flashes up an error code
and fails to empty. Fine. Can do that. I also regularly descale the
pump via the front access panel. Both these were done around a month
ago.
Last night the machine appeared to get confused. It took a very long
time (> 3 hours) to do a 40/50 degree cotton wash but eventually
finished. During the wash water did enter & exit as normal, as did the
detergent.
Another wash today (cotton 40) took over 3 hours 25 until we switched
off via front panel. We then disconnected mains for 5 minutes. We then
hit start again , and the LED time-remaining display counted down from
around 52 minutes to 1 minute. During this time the machine appeared
to operate ok. However the indicator wash/rinse/spin stayed on wash
the whole time. The LED indicator then remained on 1 for around 30
minutes after which I aborted by switching to "X" (cancel) and then
manually on to "rinse". Rinse/spin progressed normally.
So it looks as if something is preventing the machine progressing
through the wash cycle.
One thing I did do for the first time in ages was to run through a 90
degree wash (with calgon) as a preventative measure for scale buildup.
Any ideas?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have a Bosch WFK 2801 washing machine which I have had for about 4
years.
To date I have been very pleased with it (other than a minor
limescaling
issue). I am now stumped & would appreciate diy advice from your
technical
support team:
Summary
WFK2801 cycle does not progress from wash to rinse. LED displays 1
minute
remaining
In the last week it has began misbehaving. Details:
Wash cycle is selected as normal.
Drum appears to fill as normal, consume detergent as normal
LED "time remaining" display will count down form it's usual setting
(ie 73
for easycare/40, 107 for cotton/40, 138 for cotton/60e) to 1.
During this entire process the "wash" LED (as opposed to rinse/spin)
is the
one lit
When the LED counter hits 1, it stays there
wash LED remains lit
Machine continues washing
Water level appears normal
machine rotates normally.
Even if left for another hour, it remains on "1"
By moving manually to rinse, the machine will move to the rinse led,
rinse/spin correctly at selected speed, although I observe the washing
is
warm and probably needs a second rinse.
No Error codes are displayed at any time
So it appears the machine is waiting for some kind of event/criteria
before
it will move the program on from wash to rinse.
I have done basic repairs to machines before & have electronics
knowledge.
Only problem to date with this machine has been that twice I have
found the
plastic device between the pump and the outlet hose has become blocked
twice
& has been cleaned by myself, and the machine has been reassembled
fine. I
am shortly having a water softener fitted to address this issue in
general.
What can you recommend I should check? Any specific connections /
sensors /
pipes & the location thereof?
What event is being waited for?
Is the timer entirely electronic in this model? (in a mechanical model
the
thought would be a stuck timer / loose connection to timer motor)
I can do further tests and checks as required.
Thanks for your support
