Has anyone ever seen a Caloric stove give a beeping "F1" message?

It is an electronically-controlled gas range. Every so often, the
electronic display was start flashing "F1" and the oven will beep,
beep, beep, etc. (The display normally shows the time of day, the oven
temp, or a countdown time.) When this happens the oven will stop
working.

It can be "fixed" for a while by unplugging the electricity, waiting,
and plugging it back in. But minutes, hours, or days latter it will
"F1" again.

Any ideas about what would be happening?

My different-brand stove did about the same thing. Check the back of the
stove (and beside the storage draw of electric stoves) for an envelope.
Inside will be schematics and probably error-code charts. These are
provided for "qualified service people". Mine said to replace the whole
control unit (which I did for >$200) and it fixed the problem. Less than
9 months later, I got another error with the same resolution. The stove
is now sitting in a scrap pile somewhere...

Gary,

Thanks for your reply. What brand was your stove? I understand
that Caloric is made my Amana who also makes several other brands.
I'd like to know if our stoves have the same maker.

Hello Carl,
F1 stands for Supervisory relay enable shorted (non-cook mode) This
sound an alarm and inhibits cook mode if redundant supervisory relay enable
circuit fails. You may friend need a new PCM Board,...
