I have a special sterilizing box in which a UV lamp is used to kill
the bacteria on some special tools. I would like to build a device
that would monitor the current of the UV lamp; when the lamp is good
there is a OK signal, like a green lamp, and when the UV lamp ages or
burns out, there is little or no current flow and the device can give
me a warning signal, say a red lamp will be on. Can anyone send me a
design?

If you can live with just an LED indicating that current is flowing,
these self powered type widgets will work:

You could also scan ebay for current sensor, indicator, etc. If you
get lucky you may find a pre-built plug in type gizmo.

You could design one with a couple of comparators, diodes, and other
passive components. But, I'd rather by one. The UV sterilizer in my
water supply sterilizer has just such a controller. Check with R-CAN at
