Is there an epoxy or acrylic compound I could spread over the entire
surface to seal it?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Brian,
I refinished a cement tub with epoxy paint - the two part, mix
together, smells bad, burns your throat - stuff. It didn't adhere
well because it's difficult to clean the surface after 50 years of
use. So, after about one year when the paint started to peel I
replaced the tub with an inexpensive plastic/fiberglass one, for not
much more money and effort than was required to refinish the original.
So, IMHO, unless there is some compelling reason to retain the old
tub, replace it.
Regards,
