We have a Vtech 900 mhz cordless phone that is approx. 3 years old.
It still
works well with the exception that when dialing the number buttons
have to be depressed very hard and very slowly to accurately make a
call. When new,
this was not the situation. They reacted easily with speed when
depressed.
Any suggestions as to what I may do to correct this situation before
chucking the phone? Should I spray the buttons with electronic
contact cleaner?

All replies welcomed! Aaron in N. Hollywood

If you know your way around electronic equipment, you can take it apart.

Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the switch contacts on the board.

If that doesn't fix it, try cleaning the rubber bumps on the backside of
the
buttons. Problem is that they're conductive. If you're not careful,
you can
clean the conductive coating off and be worse than when you started.
Make a quick wipe with the alcohol. Don't rub off the coating.

I had the same problem with the same phone. Cleaning fixed mine.

Hi Mike: thank's for your quick reply! I would like to take the unit
apart but
see no screw holes or clamps. Would the proper procedure be to take a
screw-driver with a flat thin blade & use it to pry the back off the
unit?
This appears to be the logical procedure, but am checking with you
first.
best, Aaron

If its like the Vtechs we have around here...2 line units, (had a single
line that was just like the older 2 line) there will be a couple of screws
in the battery compartment, one covered with a warranty seal. take those
out, and you will have to pry a bit..found that out on the old one that got
dropped in the pool...(dont ask..LOL)
