Because you need a gun to protect yourself. Tough guys protect themselves with their fists.

Are you naturally obtuse and dense or do you have to work at it?

I don't need a gun. I want a gun, so I have one. I didn't buy it for
protection, I bought it for target shooting. Do you understand the
difference between want and need?

I'm not a guy and don't get involved in fist fights.

I just can't comprehend the typical gang banger in the US. Throwing
them in prison just reunites them with their missing gang members and
in most cases, it does not even stop them from continuing the
operation of their criminal enterprise.
These are people who are 3d or maybe even 4th generation criminals.
Momma is in jail or strung out on crack. Daddy is dead or in jail and
they expect to be dead or in jail by the time they are 25.

Did you really mean "gang banger"? ROTFPMSL! I don't think you know what that means.

That's because of the lower average intelligence of USA folk. Most of your criminals are black.

I'm no longer able to protect myself with my fists but I can pull a trigger and perform a double tap to an attacker's mouth. The reason to aim for the mouth is because the rounds will sever the brain stem and drop an attacker in his tracks plus prevent any weapons fire on his part. ^_^

I've stopped potentially bad situations by making a do-bad believe I had a gun. In other situations, I let them see that I was armed and they changed their minds about attacking and vacated the area. I've never shot anyone but the closest I've ever come to killing someone was with my bare hands and feet. When 385 pounds of angry business owner lands on a burglar with both feet, the miscreant doesn't get back up. Stomping the crook until he quit twitching was less bloody than shooting him and resulted in no police involvement because I tossed the creep behind a hedge down the street. My brother did essentially the same thing to a two legged critter who broke into the shop. He didn't call the cops either and there were no more break ins. I've had vermin casing my business and they decided against sticking around when they saw the pump shotgun I was carrying about the premises at night. I'm glad I haven't killed anyone because there's too much disruption of business and tons of paperwork involved. ^_^

Would you like to be a target? I'm sure a bit of crowdfunding could raise enough money for an airline ticket and rental of a shooting range, ammunition plus the cameras to make a YouTube video. I think a lot of people posting here would be willing to donate to the event. ^_^

The worst thing around here is the noise. It can be noisier than a grammar school playground. The room next door to me has a couple of guys afflicted with cerebral palsy. They're relatively young but can't take care of themselves at all. Their bodies are all contorted and they have very little control of their limbs. One of them yells and the other screams. The one who yells has a reputation for biting the staff while they're caring for him. He'll start yelling that he wants pancakes, coffee or other things in his mangled almost unintelligible speech. Last night, he started yelling at 11:00pm, it went on until 3:00am. I don't get angry with the guys because I know they can't help it. I was asleep one day when someone came by the room and left the door open. The screamer was in the hall near my door when he started screaming. Needless to say, I was a bit irritated, not at the screamer but at whoever left my fraking door open. Me and my roommate like peace and quiet. ^_^

Sounds a bit like living at McDonalds, with all
the various alarms going wild.

I think some nurses become able to tune out all
the alarms, the residents wait and wait.

One time I did attend a Bingo game at a home. The
caller would pull out the cards with the number,
call the number and shake the card up and down about
a foot in the air. All we could see was a grey blur.
I mentioned that to her, how hard it is to read a
sign that's going up and down about a foot, at about
120 Hz, but she ignored me.
