We have a Lennox furnace that uses a hammock-type filter. Does anyone know
of a way in which you can alter this setup so that you can use the standard
rectangular-type filters? It would be nice if we could use some of the
higher-filtration filters like 3M Filtrete, etc. Or is it just too old for
that?

Hey Robert,

I thought your parents got rid of that old POS... your best bet is to have
a filter rack cut in...

There are several ways...

1) Take 4 pieces of 2" wide sheet metal strips, about 6" long, and
make little clips to hold the filter, 2 on top, 2 on bottom.

2) Use duct tape.

3) Use a shoe.

If you use a hi filtration filter you MUST replace it, or clean it,
monthly. With a rigged filter set up the air is going to bypass the
filter if it gets restricted.
