I have a set of Anderson French doors in my kitchen that aren't that old.
The doors are locked by lifting up on the handle of the main door and
then turning the lock. The problem is that the lifting action has broken
the internals such that I can still open the door fine, but I can't lift
up and this can't lock the door. Where can I get the individual gut
pieces? It is not particularly obvious on their web page.

The fact that the doors were installed in your house and that they are
not that old, suggests that there is probably an Anderson dealer in your
area (look in the Yellow Pages). If they don't stock the part(s) you
need they should be able to order them for you. My experience is that
Anderson parts are a bit pricey, however, compared to similar generic
parts found at Home Depot, et al.

Now that you've sold the sofa,
where will the clown sit?

Brad,
Find the Anderson dealer in your area. Usually there is an Anderson rep that
can diagnose the problems and help with the proper fix/solution. We've got
Anderson's with the same lift up locking handle. After 2-3 yrs the door often
settles a bit and the 3 point locking system begins to hang-up and the
symptoms sound just like yours. There may not be anything "broken" in the
locking mechanism, the door hang might just need to be re-set.

Not to question whether or not it is broken. I assume you took a look.
We have one just like that and I thought it was broken but....I
determined that the other side was not properly secured. It worked ok
but would not lock. Soon as I secured the other side it worked fine.
Anderson has a "lifetime" guarentee so check a dealer and maybe you'll
get lucky. They are great otherwise. vvl

I have Anderson windows and doors.I have never had any replacement
problems, with either the rep or directly.
their windows are guranteed for life. I would guess the door is too.I
have gotten replacement panes, and rollers on 4 different occasions. the
panes fogged up, and the rollers broke.

Best regards
Ed/Clarice

You've gotten rollers replaced at no cost? I have replaced the rollers
on my patio doors every year for the past 9 years or so ($16 a pop).
They're still made of plastic, so we'll probably continue to replace
them for the foreseeable future. How do I get freebies?

Why didn't you do that to the monkey
BEFORE he sold the car?

Have you thought of cleaning out the hole in the threshold into which the bottom locking bar must protrude? Sometimes dirt and sand accumulate in that hole and prevent the mechanism from engaging.
