First and foremost lose the repair man then call a reputable service company out
for the diagnosis and estimate... And expect to pay a reputable company for a
diagnosis.

It would be a waste to 2nd guess some of the possibilities here. Hope this gets
you going in the right direction. If you disagree with my prognosis of losing
the guy then you deserve him!

Coleman/Evcon now makes all kinds of furnaces for all different uses. I
wonder if
perhaps the blower motor is having a hard time starting and after a while the
processor will lock out. What you are describing with the thermostat is merely
resetting the processor. You might have to check the startup current of the
supply air blower motor. It may be hanging, have a bad capacitor, something
wrong in the control circuitry, - - Which sounds like is being worked on. Pretty
hard to second guess a service man that is hands on the job. Perhaps you can get
parts faster by overnight ups. What part of the world are you in? A second
thought is perhaps you have a step gas valve in that unit. It might not be
stepping into high gear all of the time. Most newer furnaces have a timer to
start blower. Older ones have a relay controlled by when heat hits a high enough
temperature. I guess the real bottom line is let your service tech work it out.
It is really hard to second guess a problem from a thousand miles a way. But
perhaps this missive will give you a working idea of the complex problem your
guy is trying to solve. Here's hoping all goes well. ;-)

sounds like could be a silicon contamination of a flame sensor. Carrier
had/has this problem and a simple swipe of the flame sensor rod does the
trick.
Does it have hot surface igniotr?
A better description of the problem would be given were you actually at the
furnace to see what the full cucle is doing or not doing.

All I know is what I have from the owners and install booklets that the
prior owner left. Its a "Counterflow Hi-Efficiency furnace with Hot surface
ignition". it seems like every appliance in this house is whatever was the
cheapest model when they built house...I am fearing I will have to replace
it...the furnace tech said its highly likely that its fixable. I asked him
to fed ex. the parts! 10 days is too long! I am in Tacoma, WA (USA). It
snowed for the first time last night.

So did you try cleaning the flame sensor?

Try http://www.evcon.com/index2.htm. You might ask Coleman for the name
of a local repairman; it sounds to me like you have picked a technician
who does not handle Coleman. Do you take your Chevy to a Ford dealer
for repairs?

Not going to try this myself. Have someone who has worked on furnaces a bit
is coming over saturday to look at it. I am more of a PC tech rather than a
mechanic type person. I am in "learning mode" know how to change the
filters, just learned how to replace a light fixture, put up vertical
blinds, replace light switches, change a belt in a vacuum cleaner, fix door
hinges, weather stripping on garage door. I don't feel confident in
actually doing anything to furnace. There is a yearly maintenance for gas
furnaces from the gas co. I am thinking I should have this done once the
furnace is working but at the end of the season cause I can not risk
anything happening to it in winter especially since it takes so long to get
parts! If my friend can not clean the flame sensor I'll ask the repair tech
if he can do it.

In the yellow pages they list Coleman as one of the brands they service. I
find it odd that he has never
seen this model, it does look different from the webpage but mine is about
11 years old. I've gotten a
few ideas from the news group. I wish it wasn't a intermittant problem.

Thanks to everyone in the group who replied with ideas. The repair tech
replaced the ignition module and so far it seems to be working OK.
