My old Speed Queen (Amana)leaves 1-2" of water in the tub after wash
or rinse cycles. I installed new belts, pump, timer. I am not sure
when the problem started. The agitator belt is the proper fabric
reinforced type and there is quite a bit of slip at the begining of
the spin. The water is pumped out at great velocity when spin starts
but some gets trapped between the drums when the spin speed increases.
The pipe from the tub to the pump seems clear since if I disconnect
it there is a free flow of water from the tub. I have looked and
probed between the tubs with a wire and find nothing around or under
the inner tub.
The problem appears to be that the spin picks up speed and starts to
pull water around between the tubs before the pump can get enough
water out. I tried loosening the belt to give more slip and thus more
time for the pump to work with less spin but this only results in
reducing the spin RPM. I tried reducing the amount of detergent but
the problem persists even with no detergent and no garments. There is
one other problem; when the spray goes on during spin, the spin RPM
drops and never picks up again.
Basicaly the machine works fine except for the failure to remove all
the water during a spin. My wife always has to start an extra spin
cycle. Actually, if the spin cycle is interrupted (tub stops
spinning) and restarted, the remaining water gets pumped out fine.
This interruption allows spinning water to get to the drain.
Now my wife wants a new machine and this is a huge insult to my
manhood and handiness. Please save my reputation as a handy if not
handsome guy and tell me what I am missing here.
Thanks
Milt

I have seen this problem before, Are you using the same drain hose that came
with the machine? If not the hose that you are using maybe too small and
the water is not given enough time to drain before the timer ends the drain
cycle. One other possibility is some times a sock will get in under the
tub and block off some of the drain hole, Stopping the water from fully
draining. Have seen this a number of times hope this helps.

The quote is the other way around.

Check them when you hang them on the clothesline. You might even find
$10 bill in the pocket that is "caught in it."
