Yea, IMHO it's sorta like chewing alot of red berries and then spitting on the
deck vs applying a real redwood color stain.

Use a good stain like Sikkens or Cabot and forget about Thompson's.
Thompson's products often receive mediocre ratings; see Consumer Reports.
