I have a model of a flower made form onyx.
The stem is broken.
I have tried unsuccessfully to repair it with 2 different ahesives.
Does anyone know a glue which works with onyx?
Can I drill it to take a fixing pin?
Is it very hard?
Will it shatter?
Any comments would be appreciated.

Kenneth,

Try using FIXIT or Apoxie Sculpt from Aves Studio (www.avesstudio.com).
Both are synthetic clays, non-toxic, non-shrinking, and highly adhesive.
Waterproof and easy to work with, wash up with soap and water. Comes in
a variety of colors, or can be colored while mixing, or painted
afterword. Call 800-261-2837 to order. You'll love this stuff for so
many uses!

Best of luck,

Chuck

Onyx is a very brittle stone. The stem is thin, the bud or blossom is
comparatively larger and heavier, it is called an inherent weakness and
that is going to be VERY hard to fix permanently.

Kenneth,

I think that FIXIT or Apoxie Sculpt will do the job very well for you,
even with the weight and brittleness of onyx. The products really are
nothing short of amazing in their strength, adhesiveness, and easiness
to use.
