The supreme court put the end to trumps "stolen election" fantasy. The
US right wing courts have declared "the steal" null and void. The
American Democracy is saved.

Correct, it was a conservative SC, with Trump appointees that told Trump
and the Trumpets that they have no case. You would think that would wake
up most of the Trumpets, that the problem isn't the courts, the problem is
that Trump lost and keeps lying, dividing, stirring up insurrection. But no,
most will continue to follow him down the toilet.

Next chapter will be when Rudy and Powell will have to prove their
BS lies and claims in the defamation suits. But that won't matter to
the Trumpets either, they'll just declare the courts are corrupt.

They think the Court messed up by not using this chance to clear things up.

Would be an interesting case. Both sides make good points. It would
clear things up, but, the state itself should make the corrections
needed without federal intervention. Depending on what side you are on,
it would either clear it up or just waste the time of the court.

I think there is merit to that argument. But the real mistake was
made before the election, when the PA case where the deadline to receive
mail-in ballots was changed by the PA Supreme Court. The SC should have
gotten off their asses and quickly heard it and decided it. It didn't sound like
a complicated case. Instead they said to keep those ballots separate and
maybe we'll do something later. Which now they did not. I agree there is
a valid legal question here. The problem is the Trumpets are running around
with scraps like this, claiming it would change the election. The Biden victory
in PA was so wide, those ballots would not have changed the result.

And whatever the outcome, the small number of mail-in ballots in question
would not have changed the election result, Biden won by a large margin.

More comments from the dissenting justices. They say the overall election results wouldn't
have been changed.

Suppose the election rules had been changed in Florida on the fly, Bush vs. Gore. Things were a big enough mess with the hanging chads.

One rumor was that Roberts was concerned that it would inflame the

That's a step removed from Harris bailing out insurgents. The word is
overused in a for sensationalism, but if the capitol protesters are to
be called insurgents what are the antifa and blm rioters?

Criminals. I'm sure you won't find this a compelling argument but I
agree with Merrick Garland:

"Both are criminal, but one is a core attack on our democratic institutions."

I contend that attacking a federal court house has the same gravity.
The Legislative and Judiciary are coequal branches of government.
Without the Judiciary, the Congress is just a debating society.
Garland would just be another guy in a black smock if a court was not
a "sacred" place.

It would not be out of the realm of Antifa and BLM to the the
instigators of what happened at the capitol. There is fairly clear
evidence that they were instigators of the left wing riots.

Then if the same case had been brought, the SC would have heard it, because
it would have had enormous significance. The SC did hear the issues brought in FL.

I read the dissenting opinions though and they raised very good points. It's valuable
to get a ruling on some of this, like the PA SC extending the deadline, to put some
lines in the sand for the future. I think they are right, the court should have heard
at least that case. Why wait until similar happens again in a future election?
The other cases, I'm not sure which ones they are, what they
are about, etc. It also could have helped with some of the anger from Republicans
who feel they haven't been treated fairly if the SC heard some of these.

+1

And the attack on our democracy wasn't limited to those inside the Capitol.
Trump directly attacked the very foundation of our democracy, elections,
with his despicable lies about a stolen election. That alone was a terrible
betrayal of his oath of office. I put what Trump did as far worse than either
any Antifa violence or the insurrectionists at the Capitol. They were just
crazed citizens, with contempt for the law. Trump was the president.
And the fallout, the consequences are orders of magnitude greater than
anything that Antifa or BLM has done.

After several vetoes by Democratic governors we finally have
constitutional carry. There are a few restrictions but the Montana
university system, paid for by Montana taxpayers, can't put blanket bans
on firearms.

We're all going to die in a bloodbath according to the old women of both
sexes. One particularly annoying twit had do go back 40 years to find a
shooting incident on university grounds.

The pols better stay in their new Green Zone.
