My question is this: Is there a standard size cutout for a slide-in range, without regard to
the manufacturer? In other words, will a cutout for a Jennair slide-in be correct for
another Jennair, Maytag, Whirlpool, GE (gasp!), or other major brand slide-in range? Or
should I select a new range now and have the granite cut with the new template? I've not yet
made the commitment to replace the range, so I'd rather not do this now if I don't have to.
Thanks,
Mike
I doubt that you will find "standard" cutouts. Everyone I've bought has
been different.

Hi,
Might be best to measure yours and compare those measurements to some
new ones to see if thye are close or very different....some
manufcature web site collected together...

There isn't much of anything that is "standard" in the appliance
industry!!

I'm just going through the actual re-model today (as we speak). I'm
having granite countertops installed and I'm replacing my 5-year-old
Jennair down-draft gas cooktop as well. I would say that unless you
just love your 20-year old range, you should look at also replacing it
(as part of the kitchen re-model). I'm sure that budget is a concern,
but I didn't want a "new" re-modeled kitchen (/w granite countertops)
and an "old" cooktop.

order your new range (whatever it may be) before they come to template your
tops.
there is NO set standards for appliances (they change like the weather).
ex.
even if the mfg. sent you a template today, it would not match the range
when it arrives.

From "Building Your Own Kitchen Cabinets" by Jere Cary:
21 to 23 inches deep
26 to 29 inches high
26 to 30 inches wide
This looks a little dates, but it may be what your already have.
From www.jennair.com:
My model JSD9860A range sitting in a box waiting for me to finish the
kitchen requires:
23 1/4 inched deep (23 1/2 acceptable) (range is 26 3/16 deep)
36 inches high (range is 35 3/4 minimum, max lever adjustment is unknown)
30 inches wide (range is 29 7/8 inches wide)
There are also issues with placing electrical, gas, and downdraft vent as
required.
If the range is electric the power lines will need to be upgraded from
three wire to four wire.
Check additional web sites for information on other manufacturers.
Your countertop supplier will also be familiar with standard dimensions.
