Modesty in the face of talent is hypocrisy
Your home is already wired to the main panel or subpanel for 230v
single phase. You will need a double-pole breaker rated for the motor.
[The manual that came with the motor should tell you what size breaker
to use. If not, you can see the amp rating on the motor plate]. Most
saw motors use a 15 or 20 amp breaker.
First pull the conductors (usually #12 or #10 with ground - depending
on the size of the breaker), from where you want the outlet to the
main panel or subpanel. Install the breaker in the panel and connect
the black wire to one lug on the breaker and then connect the white
wire to the other lug on the breaker. Put some black electricians tape
on the black wire so that you will know that it is hot. Then connect
the ground wire (bare copper) to the ground bar in the panel.
Pull the conductors into a standard wall-type electrical box and cut
it so that about 8" sticks outside the box. Using a 220v outlet, rated
for the breaker you are using (15 or 20 amps), connect the black wire
to one lug, the white wire to the other lug (again put black
electricians tape on the wire so that you will know that it is hot).
Then connect the bare copper wire to the green ground lug.
Push the conductors into the box and attach the outlet to the box and
that it about it. Be sure to staple the conductor about every 4' in
the attic or where ever you run it.
ALSO: TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE PANEL BEFORE YOU WORK ON IT. MAKE
CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE NOT WORKING ON A LIVE CIRCUIT OR IN A LIVE PANEL!
