Fill it with mortar or remove and replace the entire brick.

Replacing the brick will be difficult because of the location.
The chip is very thin -- about the size of an oval poker chip. It
right out of the mddle of one edge. I have the chip and it fits
perfectly back into place. Is there some glue that will hold it?

Do you happen to have anything cementitious around? Portland cement,
unsanded grout, concrete mix (sift to remove sand and gravel). Color
doesn't matter. Make a thick paste and bed the chip all the way in, wipe
with a sponge to clean off excess or exposed paste. Use a slight weight or
clamp or tape to hold a day or so until set.
a bit of 5 minute epoxy would do. Is it that big a deal?

Yes, but it's on a walkway, which means in most likely hood you're going
to have to as the birck continues to deteriorate.

A fine sand mortar mix will pill the hole quite nicely tho admittedly a
bit unsightly, but it'll give you your best chance at a long lasting
repair. I'm sure two part epoxy will hold the chip there for a while, if
you're dead set against filling it.

The epoxy did the trick. I filed off a little pile of brick dust and
mixed that into the epoxy. That turned it a nice reddish color. I
coated both sides, slipped the chip back into place, and put a 50
pound weight on it for a couple of hours. When it hardened, I filed
the edges and it looks almost invisible and seens very strong.
Thanks

Well, it's not on a par with peace in the middle east, but I would
prefer to have it look as nice as possible. Is that that big a deal?
