Does this mean you can remove just the clips, but leave the eyelets in
place?

I have pleated curtains that I need to move to windows which have the more
modern plain bar curtain rods. But the hooks in the curtains are about an
inch below the top of the curtain. I don't want to use the clips, but need
eyelets that hang down that inch or a bit more. I don't find any rings
with eyelets like that, but it appears if I can remove the clips on these
Amazon rings, what's left would be an eyelet of about the right length.
The top of the curtain needs to be just below the bottom of the ring.

What do you mean by "eyelet"?

eyelet: "a small round hole in leather or cloth for threading a lace, string,
or rope through." Similar to a grommet.

In your Amazon link I see a ring, a hook and a spring loaded clip.

The hook could be removed from the ring which would also remove the
clip or the clip could be removed from the hook. All you need is a pair
of pliers to bend the hook. A decent pair or needle nose might be the
best option, although removing just the clip will be more difficult due
to the limited space.

If I use rings like that, I will have to reposition all of
the existing hanger pins currently installed in the pinch
pleats. If I can use the clip version and remove just the
clip, then the hanger pins will be pretty much at the right
place. I don't know the correct name for hanger pins, but
they are stuck into each pleat, and then hang on the sliding
eyelets in the curtain rod. The are positioned about an
inch below the top of the curtain so the curtain will hide
the curtain rod.

Anyway, thanks for the responses.

So the question is this:

Which is the better solution from both a look and from a work
perspective?

IOW, which will be harder - repositioning the pin-in drapery hooks
vs. removing the clips *and* when the work is done, which will
look better - even if it was more work to accomplish?

I might as well add that drapery hooks (both pin-on and slip in)
come in different lengths and styles.
