Can anyone tell me what TECO brackets are? I need to buy or make
brackets to hold a 2x4 to the top of a 2x6. ( To be glued and screwed
together.)

"TECO" is a manufacturer of various construction brackets that tranfers
loads from one structural member to another.

Most common of the TECO brackets are the ubiquitous "joist hangers".

History. The company went bankrupt a few years back.

I believe TECO is a brand name. They make an assortment of joist hangers
and the like.

Although TECO is the brand name of the product, around here it

is often referred to a particular bracket. It is an "L" shaped

bracket (w/ holes for nails) as if you were to nail it inside

a corner. It has a slot cut in its corner so you can fold down

these tabs for attaching all sorts of things. When someone says

on the job site "Get me a TECO" this is what is brought.

Yeah, we must have used a hundred of those on our deck. And at least ten
bags of "Special Nails".

Try getting a Simpson catalogue. They make any kind of connector you can
imagine and carry ICBO approval.

What you probably want is a H-34 Hurricane tie or ancor from the Simpson
catalog
