Hello Group,
I am new here, my first post. My question is ..

:Does anyone here have "Leaf Guard"?
If so does this create a home for wasp? I have a Grandson that is
allergic to them. We want to add "Leaf Guard" but worried that it would
become a home for wasp - can you tell me if this is a problem with
yours. This is a cover that goes over your gutters, and is enclosed.
Also.. any pros or cons about these covers? I would love to hear your
thoughts on this product and what kind is best also.

Thank you very much for any info on this you can offer.
Simon

I don't think you need to worry about wasps nesting in your gutters. There
are 2 types to need to worry about, the ones that make nests of mud & the
ones that make them out of paper. They wouldn't build in an area that gets
flooded from time to time. As to the Leaf-Guard, I'm afraid I can't help you
with that.

Unfortunately, yes. I moved into a home in Nov. that has Leafguard gutters and am trying to find a way to get rid of the wasps. It seems that there are multiple nests on every side of my house.

But are they in the gutter or on the leaf gaurds? I suspect none of them are.

Are you sure that you are talking about Leaf Guard?

You said: "This is a cover that goes over your gutters, and is enclosed."

AFAIK Leaf Guard is a single piece seamless gutter system, not a "cover that goes over a gutter". In addition, it is not enclosed.

There are a number of other types of "gutter guards", to use the generic term, that can be retrofitted to existing gutters, but as I said, I believe that the Leaf Guard name is specific to the product made by Engler Inc.

No idea what a Leaf Guard look like, but...

Wasps will build nests on the underside of curved metal.
Where ever they can get out of the rain, and they prefer heat.

I've had leaf guards brand gutters for 10 or more years under mature firs. Love how they perform staying clean but they do attract paper wasps who build their open faced upside down kumbrella shape nests INSIDE the gutter. It's dry in the summer and they especially love the heat when they are most active.

I just killed four horned/wasp nests in my leaf gaurd gutters. It hasn't rained in a while so they moved in. I used the expanding foam hornet killer from home depot to smother the nests and horned traps to get giet rid of the survivors.

Yes it really does create a problem and its difficult to stop them from building nest in the leaf gaurd gutters, i've used lots of wasp spray even pressure washed the gutters and they come rite back!!

I have a Beyer Leaf Guard. I’ve had it for about three years. This year there are multiple wasp nest in the leaf guard. This is also the first year that the attractant in my wasp traps has not worked.

My only success in getting wasps this year is directly spraying them. This is difficult to do as my home is built on a slope and I do not have easy access to the gutters.

I have Byers Leaf Guard Gutters and YES the wasps love them. They are very hard to clean out because the gutters are enclosed except for the slot where the water runs in. Good luck!!

leaf guard is the perfect home for wasp, hornets, and yellow jackets, and believe me they are there and they aren't going away. Leaf Guard doesn't address that when they sell you their product

I have had these for now the 2nd year. There are far fewer wasps and
hornets around than in previous years. I don't know that the guards
and the critter count necessarily correspond.

After seeing this and thinking about it, it does appear to be a natural
home for yellow jackets like I have been troubled with. They build
nests in all kinds of openings in ground and house. I don't have these
type gutter guards and now I'm glad that I don't.
