Go to any Walmart, big box or auto parts store and purchase some GOJO® hand cleaner. It will remove just about anything from your hands. ^_^

Try mineral spirits. You may get it off with linseed oil and they you
can wash that off with soap.

Hi Ed,

I don't have any turpentine, mineral spirits or linseed oil.
But that gave me an idea. I do have heavy mineral oil, USP.
That worked! Thank you!

I am going to do a follow up with Enviro Cleanz just in case.

-T

I was fun trying to get the mineral oil off, but that was edible.
It fell to dish washing liquid after a good wipe off.

Now to cook. Zucchini fear me again!

That "Orange flavored goop" they sell in the home improvement

IIRC, it has a little abrasive in it.

Only you dumb arse would think I was suggesting that. I pretty much wear
nitrile gloves whatever work I'm doing. Not for cooking though.

I read the health and safety instructions and I know what all the little
warning icons mean. I practice safe working procedures. I ventilate and
suck fumes away from me, like when I solder. I wear a mask when rubbing
down old lead paint and so on.

Guess which one of us is most likely to have a long and healthy
retirement.

Many years ago I saw what not doing so caused to gentlemen who didn't
take care with chemicals in photographic labs. Not pretty.

You can be tough and not fucking stupid. I recommend you try.

The disposables work out about 10p a pair from recollection. Try Amazon.

It's a character not a cost thing. You Yanks love to come see our

No idea. If that's what you think why do you keep on trying to prove it
to yourself. Lack of confidence? Doubt even? Most of the world is
interested in how others live. Personally I've learnt a lot from
watching others but you seem fixated on proving your way is the best
way. Bully for you. Whatever makes you happy. I won't share with you in

Boiled or raw? Years ago I stopped using canola oil when I noticed the
smell arising from the frying pan was similar to that when I was rubbing
linseed oil into axe handles.

I grew up in a house that was historic by US standards. 'square' and
'plumb' were two concepts I was not exposed to. I suppose it was good
practice cutting trapezoidal glass panes and other touches.

My father enclosed a porch and paneled it with knotty pine. It came out
well but the molding around the ceiling was unfinished when he died.
Cutting compound compound (if that makes sense) bevels in crown molding
was more than his patience could bear. It enriched my vocabulary somewhat.

Composition of plumbers putty is said to be clay and linseed oil. I
would think cooking oil would even remove it.

Patrick Ryan's 'How I Won the War' wasn't served well by the movie that
was derived from it. iirc, whenever the wogs showed up with some request
or complaint the Army officer would say 'That wouldn't be cricket.' When
the poor fools asked 'What is cricket?' an explanation would be launched
that would last until they got discouraged and left.

I've never seen cricket and have no desire to. It can be no worse than
baseball. The last ballgame I witnessed was about 60 years ago and came
about when a local sausage manufacturer included a free pass in each
package of sausages. I did go to the local stadium once -- Willie Nelson
was playing there.

I never could hit the ball and my reaction to hard flying objects is to
get the hell out of the way, so my schooldays enforced baseball playing
usually had me so far out in the field I seldom bothered to come in when
the teams changed, to everyone's great relief. It scarred me for life.

And now the wogs play cricket better than the colonial power that taught
them to play it.

I have used a lot of plumbers putty. It's just a putty based on an oil,
which is like linseed oil. It's pretty darn harmless. If anything it
might add some needed oil to dry skin. I can understand not wanting to
get it into your food, but it's not hard to remove. Any degreaser and
some hot water will take it off. Dawn dish detergent comes to mind. Put
the Dawn on your hands straight, rub well, and rinse with hot water.

Or use those hand cleaners like Goop or Gojo made for mechanics.
Everyone who does auto or home repair should have some of that stuff at
home. It's cheap and it works!

As a plumber I’ve found white spirit gets it off your hands easily and then wash them in some washing up liquid. My skin is NOT sensitive though as I have my hands in all sorts in the course of my work and not much affects it. You may want to reconsider if your skin is sensitive.
