Last night my wife woke up and heard this faint ticking noise. She woke me
up, and we were able to trace the sound to our Hunter ceiling fan, which was
turned off. The fan is on a wall light switch, but that only controls power
(On/Off) to the unit. There is no dimmer control on the wall switch. It
has a remote control that controls the fan and light unit. The remote does
have a dimmer switch. I turned off the wall switch to the fan and the sound
went away. We've had the unit for 7 years with no problems.

Any ideas what this could be?

One thought as I was typing this is that the something is pressing on one
of the remote dimmer switches, even though the light itself is turned off
(I'll check that when I get home from work tonight). Could that cause this
sound?

Any other ideas?

Quite possibly if it were continually turning it off.

the receiving unit of the remote is the area where the noise is coming
from... there is power to the receiver to receive the signal from the
remote... this is proven when you turn off the wall switch........
probably a bad capacitor??? inside the remote....contact hunter to see
if there is a fix for this item and also if the warranty covers it?????
