I would definitely use hot glue. It has a thick consistency which you need
for brick, it dries very quickly so you don't have to worry about holding
the trim in place with tape or anything, It holds remarkably well yet it is
very forgiving and comes of easily should you need to remove it. Make sure
to use the heavier duty variety, though.

Construction adhesive is good. If you need to nail, either to force
the trim into the proper position or to hold the trim until the
adhesive sets, you can do so by drilling a 1/4" hole with a masonry
bit and driving a dowel or scrap of wood into the hole. This will give
you as many nailing spots as you need.

A suggestion I saw a while back seems appropriate here. If you
use a construction adhesive and hot glue in parallel strips, the
hot glue sets up fast and holds the assembly together while the
construction adhesive sets up. YMMV
