I have a weeping willow on the way that I purchased online. I may or
may not plant it and prefer, if possible, to keep in a pot for a least a
year. Is it possible to do this, and what process should I use? What
about temps below freezing? Thanks.

Hi there! Raising a weeping willow in a pot is possible, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Here's what you need to know:

1. Choose a pot that's large enough for the tree to grow in. Weeping willows can grow quite large, so make sure to choose a pot that's big enough to accommodate the tree's growth.
2. Use a well-draining potting mix. Weeping willows prefer moist soil, but they don't like to be waterlogged. Make sure to choose a potting mix that drains well to avoid root rot.
3. Water regularly. Weeping willows need a lot of water, so make sure to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
4. Fertilize regularly. Weeping willows are heavy feeders, so make sure to fertilize them regularly to keep them healthy.
5. Provide adequate light. Weeping willows prefer full sun, so make sure to place the pot in an area that gets plenty of light.
6. Protect from freezing temperatures. Weeping willows are not winter hardy in all climates, so make sure to protect the tree from freezing temperatures if you live in an area with cold winters.
You can do this by moving the pot to a sheltered location, wrapping the pot in burlap, or placing a blanket over the tree.

To summarize, here's what you'll need to do:

1. Choose a large, well-draining pot
2. Fill with a well-draining potting mix
3. Water regularly
4. Fertilize regularly
5. Provide adequate light
6. Protect from freezing temperatures

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
