Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning up this type of stain?
Thanks in advance...
I would try an enzyme solution for pet stains from the pet store, like
Simple Solution. It completely removed cat diarrhea from a pale grey
carpet.
I wouldn't recommend trying soap that someone else suggested. If you
don't get all the soap out, dirt sticks to the soap residue and can't
be vacuumed out.

I wouldn't advise scrubbing the carpet with a brush. It's far better to
"Tamp" the stain. Scrubbing a Burber could lead to matting (localised
shrinkage).
A full description of this method and visual How-To's is on
www.DrClean.co.uk/surgery_stains/Stain_framepage.htm
and look up the vomit stain section. Also check out stains on carpets as it
gives methods of removing the stain in the most effective way (I agree that
you must remove as much of the stain as possible).
In reality, an enzyme digester will remove the stain completely but you
should still flush with water completely first and digesters can be
difficult to get especially in the UK.
Both previous pieces of advice are especially good if used together.
Hope this helps

:-) Now that's just gross. True, because my dog does it too, but still
gross:-)
