Identifying cables that are patched in to switches

I am trying to identify a cable back to a rack that is patched into a switch, because it is patched in, the tone is hard to hear. There are approx. 500 cables in the room. It is too hard to actually trace it back physically, there are too many in the tray.
Any ideas ?
