Time Warner/San Diego is now offering HDTV. They are only offering two
channels right now -- HBO and Showtime, but will add some of the major
network channels "soon" (whatever that means). Picture and sound quality is
fantastic. The receiver is an Explorer 3100HD. My only complaints are:
1) When watching an HDTV channel, the Guide button no longer works. To
view the guide, you've gotta switch back to a non-HDTV channel.
2) The IR codes are incompatable with my B&O receiver, which means that
I can no longer use my B&O remote to change channels. I'm told that a B&O
rep needs to come out and update the firmware for the receiver so that my
remote can control this new receiver.

You have HDTV?
I live up here in Canada, and we got digital cable a few years ago
drat ! darn the CRTC*( all to heck and gone
jb
*the CRTC is the Canadian Radio and Television Commision, which decided
which channels we can watch on tv and how much Canadian content we get on
the radio... I'm inclined to say let the market decide. The cream shall rise
to the top... hopefully
Here in Los Angeles, you can get several over-the-air stations
broadcasting in HDTV...I'm surprised you don't have some in San Diego.
I just received a call from Time Warner yesterday and was told that
PBS-HD is being added this week. More stations will be added by the end of
the year, although the rep couldn't idenitify those stations.
