Any opinions on the reputation of Boston Acoustics? It's been
almost 15 years since I last purchased speakers, and I've pretty much
been out of the loop on this stuff.

I think Boston has some of the best "bang for the buck" speakers out
there. I've got a set of VR30's with a VR12 Center and VRS surrounds
and they sound very tasty indeed. The VR30's are also very musical but
I listen mostly to HT. If they sound good to you then buy them with
confidence. Boston makes quality speakers at a good price.

I like Paradigms as well, but it sounds to me that
your friend's system may not be optimally configured
and/or placed.
