I've got no room on the floor to have stands or tower speakers. I need to
anchor them to my ceiling. The good news is my ceiling has beams that come
down 1 foot from the actual ceiling. I've got some old Bose mounted this
way.. but I'm ready to trash the Bose and buy some real speakers. I'm
looking at the NHT Super Ones.. has anyone mounted them from the ceiling..
and how do they sound? Any other advice for hanging speakers from the
ceiling and your speaker choices. (I will be matching any speakers with a
HSU or PSB sub.... let me know if you've used the psb subs). Also my
ceilings are 9 foot but the speakers will hang from the beams at 8 feet.
thanks in advance.

Scott, I have mounted Bose and Little infinities and some big Klipsch, using
chain and brackets from the ceiling with varying degrees of success.

If you have a center channel an important point would be to try to get the
tweeters of all three front speakers on the same plane, for smooth left,
center, right, effects. "Old school practice" has had good results from
suspending speakers in a net. Using brackets in the ceiling corners is not
the best way to get good sound (too many reflections), and a real bitch to
install.

I would look for a solution that could angle the front speakers to the
listening area with a close tweeter plane. -- David

Depending on your budget, the Thiel Powerpoints got a glowing review
in The Perfect Vision and they are made specifically for on wall and
ceiling placement. They're about $1500 EACH if I read the article
correctly.
