Mitsubishi lockout

My original post scrolled off my newsreader, and I can't post via Deja
news so, again...
Our Mitsu Rear projection which had to travel many miles to an unknown
repair shop via a furniture company came back with the external inputs
inexplicably locked out (What were they thinking?), and by the time we
discovered this, we could not find the company that did the repair.
Like many reading this newsgroup, we NEED those extra inputs! But they are
locked out with a 4 digit password, which I think I figured would take at
least 48 tedious hours to exaust the 10,000 possibilities on each input,
about 30-60 seconds for each code and about eight or ten button presses
each pass.
Apparently the problem was common enough that a solution needed to be
distributed by Mitsubishi, and I think I found the solution for my
particular case (unproven so far, this set is hours away). I am posting it
below for anyone with similar circumstances:

This system can lock each channel or different channels on ANT A and
ANT B as well as locking each of the EXTernal inputs.
You should confirm which locks are on before trying to unlock.
IMPORTANT : You must use the original remote control that came
with the TV to release the Parental Lock, you cannot
use a remote that came with a VCR, Audio System or
from any other manufacturer.
1. On the remote, press the button at the top labeled TV or set
the switch at the top labeled TV/VCR to the TV position (this
depends on which remote came with the TV).
2. Press the button on the remote labeled POWER.
The TV will turn on.
3. Press the button labeled MENU or MODE (this depends on which
remote came with the TV). The "TV Menu" will be displayed.
4. Press the #5 button (the CHANNEL LOCK selection).
The screen will change to show the channel lock system menu.
This screen will indicate that the lock system is either ON
or OFF.
IF THE SCREEN INDICATES THE LOCK IS ON, USE STEPS 5 - 12,
SKIP STEP 5A.
OR:
IF THE SCREEN INDICATES THE LOCK IS OFF, USE STEPS 5A - 12,
SKIP STEP 5.
5. Press the #3 button (the SELECT CHANNELS TO LOCK selection).
The screen will ask for the personal four digit code.
Press the #9 and QV buttons at the same time.
The screen will change to show a channel (or input) with an
instructional display superimposed over the picture that
indicates that the channel or input is either locked or
unlocked. In the middle of the screen will be instructions to
use the SCAN buttons or 10-key pad to select the desired
channel or to use the INPUT button to change antennas or
select the EXTernal inputs. At the bottom of the screen will
be instructions on how to change the current lock status of
the selected channel or input (if locked - press CANCEL to
unlock - OR - if unlocked - press ENTER to lock).
IF YOU USED STEP #5 - NOW GO TO STEP #6
5A. Press the #1 button (the CHANNEL LOCK ON selection).
The screen will ask for a personal four digit code number.
Use the 10-key pad to enter a new code number (we suggest
1111) and then press ENTER.
The screen will change to show a channel (or input) with an
instructional display superimposed over the picture that
indicates that the channel or input is either locked or
unlocked. In the middle of the screen will be instructions to
use the SCAN buttons or 10-key pad to select the desired
channel or to use the INPUT button to change antennas or
select the EXTernal inputs. At the bottom of the screen will
be instructions on how to change the current lock status of
the selected channel or input (if locked - press CANCEL to
unlock - OR - if unlocked - press ENTER to lock).
IF YOU USED STEP #5A - NOW GO TO STEP #6
6. Use the SCAN buttons or 10-key pad to select each locked
channel or use the INPUT button to change antennas or select
each locked EXTernal input.
7. Press CANCEL at each locked channel or input to unlock that
channel or input.
8. When each of the locked channels/inputs have been canceled,
press the MENU button. The screen will return to the
"TV Menu".
9. Press the #5 button (the CHANNEL LOCK selection).
10. Press the #2 button (the CHANNEL LOCK OFF selection).
The screen will ask for a personal four digit code.
11. Press the #9 and QV buttons at the same time.
The screen will return to the "Channel Lock" menu and
indicate that the lock is OFF.
12. Press the MENU button twice to return to normal viewing.
The parental lock is now entirely canceled.
