I am a realistic person. If your budget allows for a $2500 receiver,
then I will recommend separates.

About speakers, please listen to the new Von Schweikert
VR2000/LCR20/TS200 before buying those Paradigms.

I'd strongly encourage you to get one of the Pioneer combi LD/DVD
players. It will be a very long time until DVD has the kind of back
catalog that LD does. If you just get a DVD player than you are
relegated to watching crappy VHS for all but the 50 or so movies on
DVD.

Toshibe is very nice (I think I saw the picture on that model), go with
3006 or Sony with component out for upgrades, Paradigm is very good
(though listen to Mirage, NEAR, NHT, Von Schweikart etc), I would consider
also B&K and others as well as Yamaha.

Steve,

Before you make
your final decision
you should check
out Kenwood's HT
web
site. It is very cool
because you can
design and build a
home theater
system, online. It
will help you to
determine what
type of equipment
will
bring you the best
quality sound for
your home.
