Newell walked through the corridors until he got to his quarters. He =
walked in taking off his uniform while getting to the shower. He wanted =
to test some of the other appliances he had gotten from his friend on =
the MASQUERADE. He jumped in the shower and told the computer to make it =
cold, 10 degress.

15 minutes later he was out of the shower and changes. He inserted a =
couple new lenses into his eye and put on the new fins he had gotten for =
water missions. They were so compact; they became 1 cm squares and =
expanded to huge fins and flippers. Then he put on a wet suit and headed =
for the holodeck..

Scene: Holodeck II

"Computer, please give me the Atlantic Ocean on Earth."

The computer didn't understand he wanted to be /in/ the water. =
"Computer place me within the water."

[Unable to comply. This may result in injuries.]

He sighed *Oh well* he would talk to Dr. Kinn about this and then he =
would reprogram the holodeck slightly.

He headed back to his quarters..

Scene: Newell's Quarters

Now that he was changed again, he felt like something sweet. "Computer, =
rocky road ice cream."

The ice cream materialized and he ate it in 5 minutes, woosh!

"Newell to engineering."

[Engineering here, can I help you sir?] came the voice Chief Hudson.

"I will need a status report very soon. I'm on my way now."

[Understood.]

"Newell out."

He got back into his uniform and headed for engineering.

Scene: Engineering

The 'lift doors opened and Newell stepped out. "Chief, I need that =
report."

"Right here, sir." he said handing him a PADD.

Newell looked it over, total system efficiency 99.65%. "Looks good. Try =
to keep things at 105 to 110 percent, Chief. Keep me informed."

Newell re-entered the 'lift and decided to go have a talk with LCdr =
Turek.

Scene: Out side LCdr Turek's quarters

He hit the buzzer.

"Enter" came Turek's voice.

Scene: Turek's Quarters

"Am I intruding, sir?" asked Newell

"Yes, but that's alright, Lt." replied Turek.
=09
Newell took no offense to Turek being brutally honest, but if Turek =
were human chanced are he would have lied and said he had been doing =
nothing. No one is ever not busy on a starship unless they were asleep.

"I have my status report." he said handing it to him.

"Good, Lt." said Turek after glancing at it.

"Well, then, I'd better be going. Thank you for seeing me at such a =
late hour." it was, after all about 2230. He turned to exit when Turek =
interupted him.

"You did not come here just for that at this hour, Mr Newell." he =
paused. "What /did/ you come here for?"

Newell sighed and turned around. "Sir, with all due respect, I wish to =
have this 'watchdog' period over. I feel I can be responsible enough to, =
be responsibles." *Stupid, stupid, stupid* he thought.

<NRPG: Insert it here, Kyle>

"Aye sir." said Newell turning and leaving.

Scene: Conference Lounge, 0900

As Lt Sagis walked in and sat down Lenin turned to Turek and nodded. =
Turek stood up.

"The following is the status of the USS HERACLES:

"All systems operating at an average of 99% efficiency."

<NRPG: Nice and sweet :)>

Lenin nodded and punched something into his PADD. "Alright, Lt =
O'Donnell please set course at warp 7. Dismissed."

Scene: Bridge

"Course plotted." reported O'Donnell as Lenin walked out onto the =
bridge.

"Engage, warp 7. Turek you have the bridge."

Respectfully,
Seth Winberg,
Clifford Newell
CEO USS HERACLES

NRPG: I know I didn't get a chance to list some stuff in Newell's =
cyber-enhancement post thingiee, sorry. Well the mission is underway...

"Lieutenant, you'll find that with anything in life, what you wish and
what you are given are two seperate items," the XO plainly stated. But he
could see that Newell was unsatified with his logic.

"I am the first officer aboard this firgate, Mr. Newell. I am everybody's
watchdog. You just happen to be more aware of this fact," Turek explained.
"You are no different than any other on the HERACLES. As first officer, I
discuss personnel with Commander Lenin as a matter of routinue. And you are
now a lieutenant, junior grade. Do you think you would have attained that
rank, had I strongly objected?"

"I wouldn't think so, sir."

"You bear the same scrutiny as any other on this ship, lieutenant. You
just so happen to be haunted by your interpretation of the words
`personal watchdog.' I hope this is satisfacory for you, Mr. Newell."
