Scene: Ensign Springs quarters

Stark sat down on his couch and unplugged the cord that linked his
terminal to the main computer. Then he plugged it in to a small inset in
his left arm. 30 seconds later he disconnected himself from the main
computer and headed for Lt. Newell quarters.

"Come in", he heard Newell.
"Hello", said Stark, "am I intruding?"
"Not at all. Can I help you?"
"Actually, you can. See, I've looked over the crew's bio files and found
out that you are a specialist in biology and cybernetics.

I lost my left arm when I was younger and the guys at Helios II
provided me with a bionic replacement. Trouble is, although physically it's
very strong, the junction between the mechanism and flesh is weak. The
traction resistance in it is actually lower than in my right arm.
I've got used to it during the years and I know how much strain it can
take, but it is designed to send a constant stream of pain into my
nervous system at the slightest traction strain.
I've tried to reprogram it, but any time I try tampering with the pain
controls it hurts like hell. Think you can help me?"

Ensign Stark Springs
USS Heracles

NRPG:
1. It's ok the junction is weak, there are drawbacks to anything. But
the pain is a problem.
2. Should I put anyone else on my mailing list?

"Maybe, stay here." said Newell, he left his quarters and headed to =
Sickbay.

LOCATION: Sickbay

"Lt Kinn, I will need some equipment." he said as he walked in.

"What kind?" she asked curiously.

Newell handed her a PADD. "I will be back in 20 minutes."

LOCATION: Engineering

"Chief Dolphin!" yelled Newell, it sounded funny to everyone but Newell =
knew how important names were, and he had punished Yoe Kure when he had =
laughed out loud at phrase.

"Sir?!" he called back from a console behind the warp core.

"I need the following:

"A type IIa positronic...."

Newell listed all the equipment and headed back to Sickbay.

LOCATION: Sickbay
TIME: 20min later

"I have the equipment, Cliff." said Kinn handing him a Med case. He knew =
he didn't need to check the equipment so he headed back to his quarters.

LOCATION: Newell's Quarters

As he walked back in Springs was sitting on Newell's bed. Newell really =
didn't care. "Alright, how about we move over here." he said pointing to =
a chair.

["Lt?"] came the voice of Dip Dolphin.

"Yes Chief?" he asked

["The equipment is ready, I'm sending Rec Dolan up to you."]

"Thank you, Chief. Out."

"What's that?" asked Stark

"All of this is equipment I will need to scan you, and, hopefully, help =
the pain." he paused, picking up the first tool, "have you ever seen a =
doctor or cybernetisist about this?"

"No, no time. I left Hellios and headed for the Academy, then it's =
straight to Omega--" he stopped himself in mid-sentence, "but you =
probably already know the drill."

He nodded, he remembered Lt. Da'ChoH, and Lt King. It had taken him only =
one month to graduate OTC and the Advanced OTC training. He had hoped to =
serve as CSO but CEO would do.

"Actually, I'm going back for more training." said Newell.

"Oh?" asked Springs.

Newell nodded again, "I'm taking a major in engineering and some minor =
courses in sciences."

Springs nodded, then said, "Ouch!"

"Sorry, it's been awhile since I've had to do any of this to myself. =
Almost done the scanning, then I'll have to analyze it."

"So you'll be an all around officer. Not bad."

"No it's not, but I won't be a Xeno specialist."

"Xeno?"

"First contact, on of my friends, T'la-- T'sora, Tressa T'Sora on the =
Athene is a Xeno specialist." He remembered only her best friends called =
her T'laes.

"Sounds interesting, aren't Counsellors usually the diplomatic liasons?"

"Yes, but there are some very special skills for Xenology. I suppose =
that counsellors are the diplomatics liasons because they're good with =
people."

He turned off the scanners as Dolan walked in with the equipment. =
"Thanks Ray." he said. Then he transfered the data into the computer.

"It will be a few hours, go get some rest, these scans wear you out. =
I'll call you when I have a course of treatment."

"Understood, thanks."

TIME: 7 hours later.

Newell read over the information displayed by the computer, the only =
thing he could do is try and re-program his arm and if that didn't work, =
he would give him pain killers.

After he informed Stark about the treatment he came back to his =
quarters.

"First, I will copy the programming in your arm and re-program it =
offline. Here's the pain killers, try 10cc's every day. If you need to, =
up the dosage by 2cc's until it feels better. I will try and re-program =
this when I can, it could take awhile.

"I am informing Dr. Kulor, on Bajor of our problem and treatment. He is =
a cybernetisist. Here's the first dosage, it is in pills."

"Understood, thank you."

"No problem." he tapped his comm badge, "Rec Dolan, please get rid of =
all this equipment, I'll be on the bridge."

["Aye sir!"]

"Newell out."

He nodded to Springs and they headed to the bridge.

Respectfully,
Seth.
