-----<snip from myself>-----
His shout also brought direct fire towards himself. The dull grey
tinged with blue told Soleil all she needed to know. He was dead. In a
blink… the Guatu surrounded the Thal, weapons drawn, “I believe, now
is the time to surrender.”
-----<unsnip>-----
The armed men parted to reveal their leader, "My dear…," his slick
words began.
Soleil's eyes narrowed and her glare contracted close to her rose
tinted skin as she tried to clamp down on all her emotions. The spikes
and flow of her personal light smoothed out as she pushed the anger
from her. Right now anger would only get herself and her crew
killed. There were 9 of them, her eyes glanced at Liorae, no… now
only 8, but they had been together for close to a year. She could
read their light as if they were family.
She felt someone touch her and she shivered in disgust as he ran his
hand down her face. Dried blood adhered to her skin and she could
barely move her left arm. There was a dull pulse but little other
feeling. Her arm's haze was slightly dull and flecked with grey. The
blood wasn't getting through very well, but she hoped that it would be
enough.
There was no telling how long the Guatu would hold them. Their patrol
was far out of Madei space with little to protect them. They were
suppose to scout and report back the locations of Guatu bases that
could serve as jumping off points for attacks on the Madei.
Soleil pulled away from his prying fingertips. "Do not touch me." She
was rewarded with a backhand across the face. It stung, but there was
no real damage.
"I wonder how much funds you will bring us…," he looked her up and
down, "and a military Jumper no less." It was not a nice glance. She
felt slightly violated just from his gaze. A noxious green tint crept
into her light. She had heard rumors that they couldn't see her aura,
but she was not one to believe rumors. Everyone had an aura, even the
awful Guatu standing in front of her. His was bright yellow edged with
crimson. Proud. He felt powerful and proud.
Soleil glanced away. He made her nauseas just looking at him.
"Sir, " one of the lackeys called, "they are broadcasting a looped
message."
The leader looked back down at the Thal, and hissed in anger.
"Disable it"
"Aye sir."
Several beeps later, "Broadcast terminated."
"Get up Thal," he said yanking Soleil to her feet. The poor Evn-Tres'
eyes were wild with fear. Soleil reached out with her good hand and
touched her. Touch always helped. The young girl's light calmed
slighty, but it still flared with every movement. Together they were
moved off of the bridge. There was not very much room to work with,
and precious little space to take them. This was a light patrol
vessel, not a heavy combat one. There were only 3 decks total and a
common berth room where they rotated sleeping when not on duty. There
was literally no room for anything non-essential.
"Take the controls, my lads. Let us see who may be out there." His
smile was a treacherous one.

Just a small one until you get here. They will be waiting for you.
