Ma’kauran followed the anti-grav stretcher towards the medbay. As the
Marine CO on board the OLYMPUS-MON, search-and-rescue fell under her
purview, as did many other incidents that would require a rapid
response unit. Unfortunately, sometimes that also included
recovery. Until the body was stored in the medbay’s mortuary, and
official custody turned over to the CMO, Ma’kauran was accountable for
his body.
A teary eyed blonde shot past the entryway even before Ma’kauran could
exit the transporter room. Turning her eyes to follow, the girl was
around the corner before she was recognized. Not that the Marine could
recognize anyone aboard this new vessel, but she didn’t even get a
description other than blonde and a particular short skirt.
Behind the tall Marine followed her team. They were required to be
checked out in the medbay after every mission. It was a standing order
that they had long since gotten used to. One of the perks was that at
least they had their own ‘doc’ to check them out and really wouldn’t
interfere and overload the ship’s CMO unless something was out of the
ordinary.
Nakuru was following along last in line scuffing his feet as he went
Every once in a while he glanced around pausing slightly to look back
over his shoulder in the direction that the female ensign had fled.
Ma’kauran followed Reetaw’agah through to the mortuary, while the
remaining jarheads slumped down on several biobeds. Redman Dal, aka
Doc, ran his medical tricorder over McQuinby as Mason grinned staring
at the wall.
“I could really use a drink,” she began, “You up for it old man.” She
winked at Quin.
“I could drink you under the table, lass.”
“I wouldn’t go there, Quin,” V chimed in. “She looks innocent but I
swear she has a hollow leg.”
“Do not,” Mason yelled as she turned and swiped at the large burly
man.
“Rudy, you in?” Mason turned and looked at the low man on the totem
pole. She paused, “You okay Rudy?”
Nakuru’s eyes were wide, slightly red rimmed, and he was sweating.
Beads of liquid dotted his brow. Mason turned quickly and tried to
reach out to the young corporal, but he jumped out of reach, backing
away from the rest of the Marines.
“Rudy?” It was softer and Mason held her hand out towards the
frightened young man, but it only pushed him further away.
“Get away from me!” he yelled tripping over a cart of supplies as he
moved back. There was no where further to go, and his back pressed
into the medbay’s wall. Nakuru spun around, wailing as he did, his
eyes slightly wild, and unfocusing.

A short one, but I couldn’t let us get away without any residual
insanity, now could I!
