???

Anyway ... yep, American TV/Film was VERY "white"
until the latter 1960s. That's how it was - love
it or hate it. UK/EU was pretty much the same.

Portier's "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner ?" was
kind-of the end point for that view.

As for who Sharon Stone likes to fuck - I don't
give a damn. She can go for kangaroos for all
I care .........

My regret is that "opposite-ism" now prevails
as a means of racial/ethnic "righteousness".
Replacing one extreme with another is NOT a
real fix - just more of the same.

Sharon Stone was supposed to play the part of Rosetta Stone, in the
Flintstones tradition of guest actors with Rocky last names, like Cary
Granite, and Ann Margrock. The schedules didn’t work, and Berry was a last
minute replacement, but there wasn’t a joke there anymore with the name.

Nope - don't remember a single one (but that's like
60 years back memory). The Official Vision for the
future was all-'white' all the time. Even the family
housekeeping robot was 'white' (except modeled after
a 'lower class' suffering servant).

Oddly, at about the same time, "Trek" had Nichelle
Nichols, in a prominent role. The role WAS a bit of
an oddity at the time, true, so much that MLK
personally appealed to Nichols to not quit the series.

Oh, there WAS the Inedible Bulk ... but he was kinda
neutral green ....

Ah ... "Johnny Quest" ... his bestus bud was clearly
from the Indian sub-continent - probably Moslem -
but was played as a totally normal/relevant character.

Anyway, mid-60s back, the Toon World was basically
Caucasian and anyone 'browner' were very stereotyped
and trivial characters by and large. This was the
national vision - indeed pre-national - even though
the first revolutionary killed, Boston Massacre, was
a 'black' man.

Themz the facts. It was as it was and all seemed
perfectly reasonable at the time.

Now TODAY ... Woke-ism has created some ridiculous
anti-types. Consider the Marvel movies about Asgard.
Idris Elba played the role of Heimdal very very
well, no complaints from me - but the old legends
said Heimdal was the "whitest of the gods", almost
an albino. Likely none of the scandies had ever
seen or heard of a darker-skinned person back when
those legends took shape pre-AD.

The Marvel movie gods were ridiculously cast. A Japanese Norse God, an
African-Englishman Norse God, and Volstagg, the God of Girth, wasn’t even
fat.

How do you know the robot was white? Because it didn't speak in Ebonics?

Let's not mention the physics ... Newton is surely up
to 9999-RPM in his grave right now ! :-)

Not sure WHERE they got the 'asian' god/prince/whatever.
The character was never developed.

Elba did play the role well - he is good at 'gravitas' and
an all-seeing godlike figure would be expected to have that.
But, as said, the character should have at least a Finnish
hyper-blonde.

ANYhow ... they wanted to make good-ish, 'PC', movies that
could please the largest audience - and the acting pool was
what it was as well. Ethnic/historical accuracy was not high
on their list. There aren't many still of that religion to
get all indignant and offended.

And no, they wouldn't have dressed all fancy like that and
the great hall in Asgard would have looked and smelled more
like a barn :-)

Can't quite place the accent ... some lower-middle
dominated borough in NYC, Brooklyn probably.

Ah ... the voice of "Rosie the robot" was done by
Jean Vander Pyl. She also voiced 'Wilma Flintstone'
and a bunch of other cartoon characters.

He was Hindu, the dominant religion there.

No, he wasn't.

The character's full name was Hadji Singh, which is typically a
Sikh name. That's also consistent with the character depicted as
wearing a turban, which is the norm for Sikh men.

So, neither a Muslim (despite 57e's racist ignorance) nor a Hindu.

Thanks for the clarificationb. I knew he wasn't Moslem.
