Maybe #1 is Nicholas Cage(/Coppola). He's been in a HUGE
number of films during his long career. Some get a bit of
critical acclaim (he was even nominated for Best Actor at
one point) but most are just "perfectly good movies that
people enjoy" ... a working-man's actor.

But while there are a lot of dramas and comedies and such,
Cage also throws in a fair number of really "odd" films
like the supernaturalist stuff like the "Ghost Rider"
films, "Knowing", "Season of the witch" plus "Drive Angry"
and even a brief cameo in the more recent "Flash" as
"SuperMan" (he WAS briefly considered for the role once).

His "National Treasure" movies may not have been 'A'-list,
but they WERE unusually intelligent/scholarly for Hollywood.

The other actor of note here is Tom Cruise. While I do kinda
hate saying anything good about Scientologists he also DOES
always include some "odd" films in-between his higher-paying
roles. "Legend" was likely the earliest but "Interview with
the Vampire", "Vanilla Sky", "Oblivion", "Edge of Tomorrow"
"Minority Report" and "The Mummy" qualify as rather "odd".
Strictly, even "Eyes Wide Shut" was surrealistically 'odd'.

There are more big-name actors who will throw in 'odd' movies
that won't win them huge salaries or Oscar noms - but I think
these two seem the most prolific. They are NOT too stuck-up
to do some "fun" stuff.
