A month ago I bought some clover honey, that I
think was real, because it seemed to make my
allergies not so bad. It was $8.00 a bottle at the
grocery store.
Today I was reading a grocery store ad where it
advertised honey for under $3.00. That reminded
me of a news program several years ago about
Mexican restaurants in New Mexico that use fake
honey for their sophapeas or whatever the correct
spelling is. It's a baked desert. The honey they use
is made of sugar and food coloring.
I did a search on the internet that shows Chinese
honey is being smuggled into the U.S.. they super
filter it to remove pollen so it can't be traced back
to China. It also said Chinese honey has insecticide
in it, and heavy metals and anti-biotics. That
doesn't sound very good. They avoid stiff tariffs
and undersell American honey.
Sounds like we need to be careful of what we buy
in stores.
