BULLETIN: It is with deep regret I must inform you of the death of Titanic
survivor Eleanor Johnson Shuman, age 87, of Elgin, IL. Mrs. Shuman died at
4:05 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 1997. Her family was with her. Mrs. Shuman and
her mother and older brother all survived the disaster. Her mother and brother
both passed away in 1968. Mrs. Shuman was recently the guest of James Cameron
at the Chicago press screening of the movie Titanic, and she had appeared on
many television shows in the past several weeks. Mrs. Shuman appeared to enjoy
all the attention in recent weeks, with all of the new interest that had been
generated by the new movie. I met Mrs. Shuman on December 4, 1997 and visited
with her for several hours. She was a delightful woman, and was happy to talk
with anyone interested in the Titanic.

Eleanor Johnson Shuman, may you rest in peace. Your voyage through life, like
that of the Titanic, has now come to an end.

With much sadness,

Marshall D. Talbert
Kokomo, IN USA

Mrs. Shuman had recently appeared on 'Hard Copy,' and seemed very active
and excited by the movie. She had quite a collection of Titanic
memorabillia in her home, and seemed to have come to terms with the
disaster.

Peace,
Michael

May she rest in peace.

She would have been about 2 on the Titanic so probably has
no memory of the event but would have heard the first
person account of her mother. What did she tell you
when you met her?
