Interestingly enough, there is a 'man eating shark' of the northern
waters, the Greenland shark. (At the very least, it is a mammal
eating shark).

But I hardly think anyone in the water was in danger from such.
Granted, data may have changed in the 30 years since I read of
it, but it was said to be a deep water shark. I suspect by the
time anyone got to its operating depth, they didn't care about
anything.

Blue sharks are found off of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, although
I'm not sure of their relative abundance. Great whites are also present
there, but, I suspect that they are fairly rare.

cheers...Bob

The Greenland shark is a bottom dweller, and that is why I didn't mention it
as you accurately put forward above: "I suspect......they didn't care about
anything".

Greenland Shark are going to be featured in an upcoming National Geographic
Magazine. My understanding of the shark is that at various times in their lives
they spend time close to the surface. They have found Greenland Sharks with
bits of caribou in their stomachs. Talked to Inuit fisherman who work in the
seas between Canada and Greenland and they consider the Greenland Shark a man
eater.
