Knotting to make net for a regency purse.

Can anyone help with sources about knotting? Knotting preceded tatting
and was used in regency times to create purses. See quote below:

Jane Austen wrote to her sister about netting a reticule. Netting is
considered to be a very old craft; pictorial evidence can be seen in
Egyptian tombs where figures are shown wearing tunics of netting.
Netting, an art all by itself, is the foundation for filet lace when
embroidery is worked over the finished netting. Mesh “sticks” are used
with a netting needle to make wide loops. For finer netting a knitting
needle is used, with thread varying from fine cotton to knitting
worsted and even twine. Gold soutache braid could be used to create an
elegant reticule for evening.

Would any one have a pattern or know of a source for one.
