This should be on topic for AHB as they likely took off from the UK.

Yup. I do use AOL. Any way in using AOL?
Got in but can't find file 23. When I use the URL you gave me it says I am not
authorised entry Any ideas? I'll keep trying.

There may not be. I have (temporarily) put the image on my website. Go

Mail to the addresses given in the headers is no longer being
read. To mail me, substitute "clara.co.uk" for "freeuk.com".
I like the guy smoking! Is that you Art?
Art, if you ever get the pic to open, what's that line dropping down from
the bottom of the plane and a little to the right? An antenna or something?

It looks as if it was taken with a telephoto lens from the rear gunner's
position in a leading aircraft. It is quite striking.

One of the aspects I am curious about is the use of cigarettes in an
aircraft in which, I presume there is an oxypen system close at hand
(although this is plainly not a high altitude mission).

I was wondering about that line too.
Thank you. Love the shot. Got package guns. It must likely is a G.
Great shot but that is not me in the nose. ((:->))

Yup. Works good. Thanks a bunch. Love the shot.

Those are the package guns. There were four 50 caliber heavy MG's operated by
the pilot mounted on later model B-26's. This might well be a G model
Marauder..
Nope not me.

We smoked our heads off all the time. It helped keep sanity. But no smoking on
landing or take-off.

Those were the four 50 caliber package guns operated by the pilot that can be
clearly seen. That makes this a pretty late model B-26. Probably a G model--
Art, I think you've missed what we were driving at; you might need your
cheaters for this. There is a fine line near the 6 o'clock position that
extends down and fades to grey. It might be a trailing wire antenna, or
could be a defect in the negative. I cannot see how it would connect with
the package guns.
Also, can you tell to which bomber group the aircraft would have belonged
or where it would have been used on ops?
I see it now. Don't know what it is. Looks like a trailing wire antenna. We
never had one like that and if you look at "Stripes in Formation" on my
website you get good views of the bottom of a flight of B-26's and no such wire
is visible on any of the planes.. Beats me.

Can't tell. The group since that is designated by the tail markings. For
example my group the 344 had a white triangle on the tail and the fuselage
markings indicated the squadron. Mine was K9J for the 494th squadron. Since
neither of those markings are visible I can't identify the unit. Sorry.
