Thank You,

Hi John
Maybe the statues just fell over or got pushed ???
I have been doing a research on Healing and Healthcare and medicine.
I havent come across anything mentioning this damage in my literature.
I'd be glad of a cross-post of anything that you get.
Remember many statues of saints got defaced during religious wars.
Many churches and cathederals suffered this way in France and Britain.
The Greek statues we have are fairly bashed up everywhere. I think
they got thus when the temples were used as mines for stone in times
after the gods lost their popular support. If you want a nice pediment
and its already got some god, just push it over and it probably breaks
off and saves you masonry labour ???.
Which era and source country are bothering you ??

I was once told that it had something to do with imprisoning "the
spirit", especially regarding the Egyptians, because of some
understanding of the breath of life/nasal...
In Ancient Egypt, it was believed the "seat of life" was represented by
the nose, and if broke off, you could destroy the ka of your enemy.
