I have a mopar 318 motor that I would like to find out exactly what motor it
is. It is in a inboard boat. These are all the numbers I could find on the
motor.
LM 318B WR10-633
622P
Casting number 253603-318-7

I plan to install some 302 swirl heads and want to be sure they are
compatible. What will compression be? I believe the 302 heads have small
combustion chambers. Should I us thick head gaskets? Is the anything
important I should be aware of? Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Tim

Hi
The casting number is for 1967 - 1975 blocks
The L in LM says it's a 1975 block and the M is Mound road plant

Great! Are there books available for looking up casting numbers and parts
numbers, or maybe a web site? There are a number of other things I would
like to research. What are some good sources for research.
Thank you

M=Mound road plant....I live 10 minutes from the plant...the men there
are your hard core blue collar workers....they are the image everyone
has of Detroit autoworkers.
