how do you protect from losing hair when fasting? I'm not balding that
much but my hair is way thinner now days and I'd like to know if there
is a safe supplement or such to take while fasting to stop any hair loss?

Whhhaaaat!? If anything, fasting should stop hair loss.

Nonsense. I lost no hair while I was fasting.

OK, fasters: How many of you actually lost hair because you were
fasting? Me, I didn't. Me, I have known dozens of fasters, and none of
them ever complained about hair loss - due to fasting - for any length
of time.

I have read several books and dozens of web sites about fasting (most of
them written by doctors), and NOT ONE of them ever mentioned hair loss
to any degree, temporary or permanent, as a possible side effect.

How many of the rest of you fasters lost an abnormal amount of hair? A
show of hands, please?

Gee, maybe all the balding men in the world are just malnourished. Gee,
maybe they should give up stuffing themselves with meat and potatoes,
and adopt a healthier vegetarian diet instead.

You sure mamma? I hope so, not that I'm that bald or anything, just my
hair thinned out a lot..I was just checking to see if anyone lost much
hair fasting before I do a fast, I have done one before that lasted
about 40 days.

And you seem to be implying that fasting is the same as starving, or
malnutrition. Yes?

Because of fasting?

Did you lose hair because of your fast?

I did hear from one fasting woman who said she lost some hair after a
fast, but she said it all came back. The effect was temporary.

Most of the fasters, male and female, that I heard from about it say
they lost no hair. I, for example, lost no hair.

There you go again, equating fasting with starvation.

Well, in juice-fasting you don't abstain from taking in nourishment, you
get essential nourishment from the juices. Therefore it's not the same
thing at all.

Your argument seems to target water-fasting as a fasting method. I
personally am not an advocate of prolonged water-only fasts.

Plenty of pro-fasting medical people would agree.

are you on a water of juice fast?
a juice or vegetable fast I wouldnt think would cause any hair
loss...but I just wondered if just water may do it...

I juice-fast. I'm not fasting right now, though.

No, I wouldn't think so, either.

Probably if you loose hair when fasting it would have come out any way, it's
not the fasting, starving maybe but you'll loose a lot more than hair when
starving, remember Karen Carpenter? Fasting will hellp your skin and health
and will help your hair grow better and may help add color if it's graying.
I have not lost hair any more than usual when fasting.

I experienced hair loss while prolonged fasting several times. I also experienced phlebolite formations.
I lost about 35lb in a month and 10 days. I fasted 5 days a and broke fast about 7 times in a row. But I had hair loss. Not a whole lot, but enough to worry. I am not gainig to much back after 5 minths.
