As many of you know my eldest moved to Oz over 18 months ago and has been
working damned hard for 18 months albeit being very well paid for his
efforts. Daughter in law and both young grand daughters have settled in
well and are doing well at their schools. The main objective is to settle
there permanently but that ambition has been hit by, what could be a
disaster. 3 days after returning to Perth 3 weeks ago following their 4
week holiday over here visiting friends and relatives, he was made
redundant as a building contract his employers were trying to obtain fell
through, so eldest is job hunting. He told me bout hour ago that if he
can't land more employment within 6 - 8 weeks he faces being deported back
over here.
I'm gobsmacked that such a short period is employed. Perhaps I shouldn't
have been so shocked, but that's probably because I have been kind of
subliminally brainwashed over the years by our past and present governments'
views of immigration and human rights over here.
