I'm looking for a 30-50 amp, 12 volt power supply. It should be tough
(mil spec?) but light (Switching?).

Brand and model number would be helpful so I can start looking for it.

Thanks, Buddy

I do not like switching supplies for radio. Too much of a chance to get
unwanted interference.

How much do you want to spend ? You may be able to do better, but look at
the Astron supplies. They use a standard circuit that has been around for
many years. Not too much to go wrong.

Most of the 12 volt supplies will normally be rated for 13.8 volts as this
is the nominal voltage of a car with the motor running. Some supplies can
be adjusted up or down if really needed.

Yea, I meant to say 12v nominal = 13.8.

Some where I saw a "Bullet Proof" sealed power supply, but I can't
remember where. Weight and dust/moisture.bug proof is important as it
will go in a communications trailer that moves a lot, and has fans
instead of AC to cool it...so dust might be the big killer here.

I use an Alinco DM-330 which far from Milspec is sturdy, 32 amp and
well metered, adjustable for voltage as well as to shift the frequency
of the switching section if needed to reduce interference. I have
never noticed any interference from the supply, but the option is
there on the front face and easy to access.
